Indoor Twilight Competitions

Twilight competitions are open to all club members from Juniors (school Yr7 and above) to Masters, whatever your skill level. They are fun events between friendly local clubs. New members and those who haven't been before are encouraged to come along as it is a great opportunity to get to know other club members, feel part of the team and enjoy competition in a cheerful and supportive environment.

Traditionally twilights are short competitions run in the evening, hence their name.

Indoor Twilights costs £2 per competitor, which goes to the host club to help pay for pool hire.

All races are for mixed teams of 4 in three age categories, all based on Age at 31 Aug of the current year: Juniors age 12 to 15 (school year 7—10), Open age 16 to 39 and Masters age 40 upward. All you have to do is put in your entry, then turn up on the day ready to race.

The team manager will pick teams and publish provisional names before the event based on who has entered. However, teams often change because people are unable to come or we have a late entry.

Junior and Masters entrants are allowed to compete in Open teams (though they cannot then be in a Junior/Masters team too). Teams have to be mixed, but can be in any ratio (1+3, 2+2 or 3+1). It is also possible to have a team of 5 and have one member sit out of each event. All this gives enough flexibility that you can be sure to get a swim.

Kit You Will Need

  • Swimming costume

There are currently six life saving clubs in our area from Christchurch through to Poole. Half, like Branksome Chine, are SLSGB affiliated while the others are affiliated to the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) which causes difficulty with organising joint efforts. The Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch Life Saving Association was set up to facilitate cooperation between the local clubs irrespective of their affiliation.

More information, including forthcoming events and results from previous ones, is available on the PBCLSA Website.
