  2. About

Branksome Chine Surf Lifesaving club is a voluntary organisation involved in actively lifeguarding and promoting sea/surf safety in and around the Bournemouth and Poole area. The club was formed in 1990 to patrol the beach between the Bournemouth and Poole boundary and Flaghead Chine in Poole. We are affiliated to Surf Lifesaving Great Britain (SLSGB).

We provide safety cover, patrols, public safety courses and sports training throughout the year with a mix of sea/surf, beach and indoor activities, we also have many local, regional and national competitions in our calendar, and enjoy many club social events together.

Vision

Our vision is to become a centre for Surf Lifesaving Excellence on the south coast of England through providing more opportunities for people in the Poole & Bournemouth area to be able to train, learn and contribute to the local, regional and national community together.

To achieve our vision and to deliver on our community mission we need to expand our operating base as with over 500 members we have outgrown our current facilitiesWe desperately need an operating base that can support a flagship surf life saving centre.

If you would like to help or discuss sponsorship opportunities to help us achieve our vision – please email us.

BCSLSC club was formed in 1990 to patrol the beach between the Bournemouth and Poole boundary and Flaghead Chine in Poole. We are affiliated to Surf Lifesaving Great Britain (SLSGB).

Our training and sporting activities provide fun, first aid and water safety skills for people aged 8-13 (the Nippers), 13-18 (Youth) and over 18’s (Open/Masters) who not only patrol the beaches, but also compete with other clubs around the country. There are dedicated Masters competitions for the over 30’s too.

Patrols are performed on foot with qualified first aiders and lifeguards equipped with rescue tubes (yellow floats used to tow exhausted swimmers).

On the water, we use specially designed craft of two types; rescue boards, large surfboards designed to carry two people; and surf skis which are long, slim, open kayaks designed to punch through and catch waves in surf conditions using kayak paddles. Most of our rescues have been carried out using these craft.

We are a registered charity funded solely by donations and grants, which we use to repair, upgrade and increase our first aid, rescue and training equipment.

Looking to the future, as the club grows we hope to be able to expand our service by running rescue boats alongside our other patrols.

Please email if would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
