WHAT IS SURF LIFESAVING ?

Surf Lifesaving a definition:

Surf lifesaving is multifaceted discipline that combines key aspects of voluntary Lifeguard services and competitive beach and sea based sport.

Members from the many clubs across the country can learn key lifesaving skills such as sea rescues and first aid though the club environment. Additionally, members can both learn and improve their swimming, boarding and surf-ski skills (long kayaks designed for use within the surf) within a competitive environment which is not just designed for fitness and fun but hones the skills necessary for real-life rescues should the need ever arise.

Our governing body Surf Lifesaving Great Britain provides nationally recognised qualifications in support of the skills learned within the club environment including individual competencies for sports but also Lifeguard qualifications, first aid and coaching
