Location
Nippers, Youth and Masters Champs and the OceanPerf Challenge all take place on Branksome Dene Chine beach.
For information on the Oceanperf Challenge which you must enter separately please see www.oceanperf.uk/challenge.
Open Nationals will take place in Newquay, Cornwall on 14th—15th September.
Eligibility
Nippers age 8—13 by end of year (born 2011 to 2016 inclusive)
Youth age 13—19 by end of year (born to 2005 to 2011 inclusive)
Open age 16 or over by end of year, with no upper limit (born 2008 or earlier)
Masters age 30 or over by end of year, with no upper limit (born 1994 or earlier)
Competency Qualifications
Any member can enter all the beach events (long run, beach sprints, beach relay, beach flags) with no qualifications required
To enter any sea events you must hold a valid Level 2 Swim Competency (or for Nippers a Bronze Ocean Star award). Some Lifeguard or rescuer awards are accepted in lieu of this – check if in any doubt. All these awards expire after 1 or 2 years so check yours is valid.
To race on board or ski you also need a Level 2 Board Competency or level 2 Ski Competency respectively. Some Lifeguard or rescuer awards are accepted in lieu of Board Competency but none as Ski Competency which must always be held explicitly to compete on ski.
There is still time to pass competency tests for swim, board or ski if you have the ability and skills and we will be trying to get as many tested and signed-off as possible. If you are not at a level to pass a test though we still strongly encourage you to enter the competition and do as many events as you are qualified for.
